Kegel Exercisers

The purpose of Kegel exercises is to increase muscle tension by stretching the pubococcygeus muscle of the pelvic floor.

Kegel exercise is a prescribed exercise for pregnant women to prepare the pelvic floor for the physiological stress caused by late pregnancy and childbirth.

Kegel exercises are considered to be a good method for women to treat vaginal prolapse and prevent uterine prolapse, as well as to treat men's prostate pain, benign prostatic hyperplasia and prostatitis.

Kegel exercises are also helpful in treating male and female urinary incontinence. It can also increase sexual satisfaction and help reduce early-onset ejaculation. The actions performed by the pubococcygeus muscle include interrupting the flow of urine and retracting the anus to stop defecation. Repeating such muscle movements can strengthen the pubococcygeus muscle. Actions that slow or interrupt the flow of urine can be used as a test to correct pelvic floor motor skills, but should not be used as a routine exercise to avoid urinary retention.
